Maui Donations
As an organization deeply committed to advancing the field of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, our annual conferences have enriched our professional lives and allowed us to experience the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and the warmth of the Hawaiian people. It is with a heavy heart that we address you today regarding the recent devastating fires that have swept through Maui, leaving so many with unimaginable loss and hardships.
We feel a deep sense of responsibility to our Maui Ohana, and we invite you to join our effort to give back to the community that has welcomed us with open arms for so many years.
We are launching a special fundraising campaign to provide relief and support to those affected by the Maui fires. The WSAAI executive board has researched and vetted many of the charitable organizations whose efforts 1) benefit the people of Maui most directly and 2) align with our values as health care providers. Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center stands out as a beneficiary that fulfills both of these qualities. As West Maui begins the long road to recovery, Mālama will focus on restoring critical healthcare access to the community on West Maui. For more information on Mālama’s mission and relief efforts, please visit www.ccmaui.org.
We invite you, our members, and colleagues to participate in this effort to give back to Maui. In a show of solidarity, the WSAAI executive board has committed to matching our members’ donations up to a total of $50,000. This means that your contribution will have double the impact, potentially raising a total of $100,000 to aid Malama Clinic’s recovery efforts.
Let us unite as a community, demonstrating our commitment to compassion and support in times of adversity. As we have experienced the warmth and resilience of the Hawaiian spirit firsthand, let us now extend our helping hands to those in need.
